Selection Process

To get admission in Maritime Training Institute (MTI) Diploma in Nautical Science course candidate has  to clear Indian Maritime University common entrance test (IMU -CET) which is mandatory to take admission in any Merchant Navy related course.
Admission is taken basis rank in IMU-CET. Higher rank candidates get first opportunity to take admission. 

Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test IMU-CET is an online computer based exam. This exam consists of multiple choice questions of English, General Aptitude, Reasoning, Physics , Chemistry and Mathematics.
IMU CET is conducted every year in the month of June. Forms are required to be filled online using Indian Maritime University website in the month of May.

Preparation tips for IMU-CET

  1. For online Computer Based exam no separate preparation is required if you have studied your NCERT books properly. Also if you are preparing for any Engineering  exam then that preparation is enough to pass online test of Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies (GEIMS). 
  2. In online written test weightage  of Physics is the maximum. You must cover important topics of class 11th and 12th.
  3. Questions from Chemistry are very less and are mostly from physical chemistry
  4. Only basic preparation is required for English and General Aptitude 
  5. There is no need for separate coaching for the subjects
  6. You can buy sample question papers which will be sufficient for reference.
  7. To study the topics NCERT books are more than sufficient.
  8. Good and targeted preparation is the only way to success.
