More than 500 People have lost life at Sea in various Ship Accidents in 2018.


Year 2018 has turned out to be one of the worst year for Seafarers. Many ship accidents have been reported which have caused loss of life of Seafarers as well as passengers.
It started from the very first day of 2018 that is 1 st January 2018 when an Indonesian ship sank claiming 29 lives of passengers. Since then more than 500 people have lost life at sea in the year 2018.

Here is a list of MAJOR ship accidents of year 2018


  1. M.V. Anugrah Express - 1st January 2018 - 29 passengers drowned as ship capsized.
  2. M.V. Changping - 2nd January 2018 - The cargo ship collided off Shanghai sank. 10              seafarers died.
  3. M.T. Sanchi - 6th January 2018 - the tanker ship collided with M.V. CF Crystal. All 32 crew died.
  4. M.V. Do Minh Twan - 12th January 2018 - The cargo ship capsized and sank in South China Sea. 3 seafarers lost their lives.
  5. M.T. Genessa - 17th January 2018 - Tanker caught fire off Kandla, India. 26 crew rescued and ONE died.
  6. Jian Hong No. 1 - 30th January 2018 - Cargo ship foundered in the Taiwan Straits. 8 crew members died.
  7. Maersk Honam - 06 March 2018 - The container ship caught fire in Arabian Sea. 28 crew members died.
  8. JBB Rong Chang 8 - 21st March 2018 - The Dredger capsized causing loss of 14 crew member.
  9. Chen Chang 332 - 28th March 2018 - Cargo ship collided. Its 3 crew members died.
  10. Da Pu Jiang -  6th April 2018 - The cargo ship foundered off Ningbo with the loss of 13 crew members.
  11. Sinar Banguan - 18th June 2018 - The passenger ship capsized and sank. 94 passengers died.
  12. Lestari Maju - 4th July 2018 - The passenger ship sank with loss of 31 lives.
  13. Nyerere - 20th September 2018 - The passenger ferry sank causing loss of 224 lives.
